- St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which was founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas in 1962, has treated more than 18,000 children from across the United States and 60 foreign countries.
- Located in Memphis, St. Jude is the first institution established for the sole purpose of conducting basic and clinical research into catastrophic childhood diseases, mainly cancer. It is the largest childhood cancer research center in the United States in terms of the number of patients enrolled and successfully treated.
